WRIGHT
Having initially trained as a biologist, oceanographer in England before subsequently working as a sculptor’s assistant my teaching experience over the past twenty years has reflected this multi-disciplinary approach. As an Oceanography Masters graduate (1984) I first taught biology to pre-university students in London before going on to explore workshops blending art and biology with younger audiences. I then became an art assistant working on large art projects in schools and public spaces both in England and France that often included running creative workshops (activity which continues today).
My work at Neoma started in the English department in 2001 where I was invited to develop classes exploring Fine Art, Sustainable development, and Public Speaking. The public speaking classes were organized around the making of radio shows or theatre productions. I also designed, taught and coordinated a bilingual media module emphasizing critical thinking skills in the face of current media practices as well as teaching and advising students on how to develop business and communication plans. In 2011, having become very interested in personal development courses and thanks to some in-house training, I changed department and was able to concentrate my efforts on negotiation, team management, public speaking and personal development classes which I now currently teach.
