Il enseigne la gestion de la chaîne d'approvisionnement, la gestion allégée et les achats internationaux. Les recherches d'Indranil portent sur la coordination de la chaîne d'approvisionnement et les politiques d'inventaire à l'aide du cadre Newsvendor. Les résultats des recherches d'Indranil ont été publiés dans l'European Journal of Operational Research, l'International Journal of Production Economics, Transportation Research Part E : Logistics and Transportation Review, Annals of Operations Research, International Journal of Production Research, et Journal of Cleaner Production. Il est réviseur ad hoc pour plusieurs revues, dont la California Management Review. Les cas qu'il a coécrits ont remporté de nombreux prix : ISB-IVEY Global Case Competition (2012), EFMD Case Writing Competition (Inclusive Business Models, 2013), et CEEMAN Case Writing Competition (2017).
