Ismail est Professeur Assistant en Marketing à NEOMA Business School. Il enseigne la Stratégie Marketing, la Gestion du Marketing et la Communication Marketing Intégrée. Il a obtenu son doctorat à l'université de Koc. Les recherches d’Ismail se focalisent principalement sur les décisions des entreprises concernant le rapport à leur portefeuille de produits, et leur impact sur la valeur en bourse de l’entreprise et les risques par rapport aux actions. Il examine également comment le bouche-à-oreille électronique (eWOM) médiatise les effets de débordement concurrentiel dus aux échecs d'extension de produits au sein d'une catégorie de produits. Ses recherches ont été reconnues par l’Academy of Marketing Science (finaliste pour le prix AMS Mary Kay de la meilleure proposition de dissertation), le Product Development and Management Association (deuxième du concours PDMA-UNH Innovation Dissertation), et l’European Marketing Academy (finaliste du prix EMAC du meilleur article basé sur des travaux doctoraux). Il fait office d'évaluateur ad hoc pour le *Journal of Product Innovation Management*. Il est membre de l'American Marketing Association et de l'European Marketing Academy.
