Ses principaux domaines d'enseignement sont la Géopolitique, l'Ethique et le Leadership. Ses recherches portent sur l'interface entre leadership, éthique et histoire, avec un intérêt plus poussé pour complexité, ‘cygnes noirs’, biais d'engagement, prophéties auto-réalisatrices, jeux de blâme, zones grises, ‘mains sales’ et récits. Ses recherches secondaires portent sur l'intégration entre les humanités et la gestion ainsi que l'avenir de la gestion en tant que matière d’enseignement. Paul a publié dans le *Journal of Business Ethics*, *Leadership* et *Critical Perspectives on International Business*, un bilan auquel s’ajoutent quatre monographies historiques. Avant de se lancer dans l’univers des business schools, Paul a été professeur d'histoire à l'université, directeur adjoint d'une ONG spécialisée dans la restitution d'œuvres d'art et historien officiel de l'île de Jersey (îles anglo-normandes).
