Il est titulaire d'un doctorat en sciences économiques et de gestion de l'Université catholique de Louvain (UCL) et un MSc en Ingénierie de la Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile. Les recherches d'Alejandro portent sur la gestion de la supply chain, la gestion des opérations et la gestion des recettes. Ses recherches sont publiées dans des revues scientifiques internationales telles que European Journal of Operations Research et Waste Management & Research, ainsi que dans des actes de conférences internationales. Il participe fréquemment aux conférences INFORMS, POMS et EURO, ainsi qu'à d'autres conférences et séminaires scientifiques.
