Il a obtenu son Ph.D. à University of Cologne et a travaillé à Cologne Institute for Information Systems (CIIS) en tant que chercheur postdoctoral avant de rejoindre NEOMA. La recherche de Janek se concentre sur la façon dont les organisations changent avec et à travers les technologies numériques. Il s’intéresse à l’agilité et au dynamisme organisationnels, aux capacités dynamiques (numériques), au jugement managérial et à l’identité organisationnelle. Ses travaux ont été publiés dans des revues de premier plan, dont European Journal of Information Systems, et il a présenté ses recherches lors des principales conférences du domaine, telles que the International Conference on Information Systems et the European Conference on Information Systems. Il a occupé le poste de rédacteur en chef adjoint dans des tracks de recherche dans des conférences, notamment Innovative Research Methods et Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Digital Transformation.
